Look more closely at the teenaged Julie Andrews. She had several “improvements” to her looks following The Boyfriend, My Fair Lady and Cinderella, but before Camelot. She had her lazy eye fixed, her buck teeth straightened and a rhinoplasty to narrow her broad nose. Around the same time she restyled her hair from long and dark to short and blond with bangs, disguising her abnormally high forehead. These changes greatly improved her looks and made her more attractive an “marketable” in Holly wood.

Look again at the teenaged Julie Andrews. She had an abnormally high forehead, a broad nose, crooked teeth, a crossed eye, and not very stylish long dark hair worn in a matronly bun. Julie was crushed when Jack Warner passed her over for the film of My Fair Lady. She underwent a complete makeover before starring in Camelot. By that time she had had her teeth, eyes, and nose fixed, and her hair restyled as short, stylish and blond (disguising her unattractive forehead), giving her a pert Sandy Dennis look. Robert Wise had no qualms about casting her in The Sound of Music. Interestingly, Angela Lansbury similarly restyled her long, dark matronly bun before being cast as Mame.
